I have been a meal prep chef for a while, and most of my clients are busy all the time. I will share valuable tips and strategies to help busy people maintain a healthy diet despite their demanding work schedules.
1. Prioritize Planning:
The typical belief that meal prepping requires meticulous planning is a misconception. You simply need to dedicate time each week to outline your meals. Yes, it’s that straightforward. I’m a chef, and so is my partner, but trust me, it doesn’t mean planning elaborate dinners every night. For example, by selecting two proteins and using two different cooking methods, this simple strategy can yield at least five meals. From one chicken breast, you can make a Parmigiana, nuggets, and other meals using the same principles. As always, I say and organize my meal prep: simple is better. I start with the basics and then use different leftovers from the week, which can include a delicious Poke bowl, a Burrito, or even an efficient meal like a Casserole.
2. Embrace Batch Cooking:
Consider batch cooking your favorite recipes over the weekend. You don’t need to prepare large quantities, but it’s particularly useful for time-consuming dishes like Bolognese or Chili con Carne. Cooking in larger batches ensures you have leftovers for multiple meals throughout the week. It’s an effective time-saving strategy that guarantees access to nutritious options.
3. Convenient Ingredients:
Always choose ingredients that require minimal preparation. Pre-washed and pre-chopped vegetables, canned beans, and pre-cooked proteins like roasted chicken are invaluable for busy professionals.
